Dr Mike Gow graduated from Glasgow University Dental School in 1999- see a photo click here! Mike has always been interested in helping dental patients with anxiety, fear and phobia because he enjoys sharing in the positive experiences of the people who he helps. In 2001 he created the website www.whatfear.com to help people worldwide with dental phobia. In 2005, he graduated with a Masters in Hypnosis Applied to Dentistry from University College London (UCL)- see a photo- click here! Mike has SAAD training in conscious sedation and is also currently studying for a Masters in Dental Anxiety Management at the University of Edinburgh. Mike has published many papers (for full list click here) and has appeared on TV (BBC2, BBC3 and More4) demonstrating the use of hypnosis in dental pain control. (Click here to see BBC2 footage). Mike regularly presents on the subject of hypnosis to dentists and doctors. Mike uses hypnosis clinically for a wide range of dental problems and also offer conscious sedation for phobic patients. Mike is the President of the British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis (Scotland). He is also Chairman of the ‘I.T. Committee’ of BSMDH (Scot) and created the society website www.bsmdh-scot.com. Mike is an Accredited member of the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis and the British Society of Medical & Dental Hypnosis (Scotland). Mike was nominated as a finalist for ‘Dentist of the Year’ in The Probe 2008 Dental Awards. He won ‘Best Young Dentist - Scotland’ and ‘Best Young Dentist - UK’ at the Dentistry Awards 2008 and was voted as 6th most influential person in UK dentistry 2009.
